Reading Structure Breakdowns

It's easy to get lost in your own story ideas. You get caught up in the moment of inspiration, whether it be a flash of an idea about an inciting incident, a set-piece or a character. Where to next?

Basic structure. Sit down and map out a structure. Even one as basic as a five-point structure breakdown, like this one for "A Simple Plan" . This starts to get easier after you read a hundred or so plot point breakdowns for movies you've seen.

The scriptLab  is a great resource that has hundreds of plot point breakdowns just a few clicks away.

Happy writing!
